Relating Profile Wall Root-Length Density Estimates to Monolith Root-Length Density Measurements of Cover Crops

چکیده

Different methods have been proposed for in situ root-length density (RLD) measurement. One widely employed is the time-consuming sampling of soil cores or monoliths (MO). The profile wall (PW) method a less precise, but faster and laborious alternative. However, depth-differentiated functions to convert PW RLD estimates MO measurements not yet reported. In this study, we perform regression analysis relate results determine whether calibration possible distinct crop groups (grasses, brassicas legumes) consisting pure mixed stands, depth affects calibration. were applied over two years all their absolute cumulative compared using linear (LR) multiple (MLR) regression. was found highly underestimate values rooted areas. close agreement between both (RL) when applying MLR, highlighting influence depth. level varied strongly with Therefore, application as main estimation can provide reliable root distribution traits cover crops.

Root orientation of four sorghum cultivars: application to estimate root length density from root counts in soil profiles

The root length density (RLD) distribution in the soil is a key factor for water and nutrient uptake but its direct assessment is not easy. A field method is presented here to assess RLD of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) from the root intersection density (RID) and taking root orientations into account. The method was developed with four varieties cropped in 2006 in Bambey (Senegal) on a s...

Leaf Area and Root Density Measurements for Use in Cover Performance Evaluations on Semi-arid Reclaimed

Evapotranspiration (store and release) soil covers have been proposed as a means to limit acid mine drainage. Soil water balance models, like UNSATH are commonly used to assess the effectiveness of store and release covers. Plant-related attributes are required as inputs to these models. In particular, UNSAT-H requires leaf area index (LAI) and root length density (RLD) inputs. Published LAI an...

Delineating the depth and extent of the watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thumb.) Matsum. & Nak.] root zone assists with proper irrigation management and minimizes nutrient leaching. The objective of this 3-year field study was to measure root distribution and root length density of watermelon (cv. Wrigley) grafted on two different rootstocks (Lagenaria siceraria cv. ‘FR Strong’ and Cucurbita mosc...

Repeated-root constacyclic codes of length slmpn

For any different odd primes ` and p, structure of constacyclic codes of length 2`p over the finite field Fq of characteritic p and their duals is established in term of their generator polynomials. Among other results, the characterization and enumeration of all linear complimentary dual and self-dual constacylic codes of length 2`p are obtained.
